On The Go – Day 10
Today is another travel day.
Today we headed to Tokyo.
This time however, we choose a train time a little more realistic. Our train was within walking distance and was not leaving until 10:06 AM.
Once arriving in Tokyo we needed one final train ride to get to the part of town we were staying at:
The Shinjuku district.
This last train was something of an adventure all its own.
I had seen articles and videos of train personnel pushing people into the train cars in Japan so they would all fit and the doors would close, but I’d never experienced it before. To be fair, there weren’t any pushers this time, but at each station there were consistently more people getting on than getting off.
By the time we were half way through the 30 minute ride, it was definitely a “sardine can” train ride.
It was interesting to experience it, kind of like an ‘I did that’ sort of thing.
Sorry…No photos though; I couldn’t reach my phone in my pocket.
When we finally reached our destination, and left the train station I was finally introduced to, at least this part of Tokyo for the first time.
Our progression of Japan experiences so far had included exposure to three different types of Japanese cities. The first city was a rather small one, and did not have a lot nightlife or people active outside. The second one was a little larger and busier. And then on to Tokyo.

Until 2025, Tokyo was the most populated city in the world, only surpassed by Jakarta Indonesia with approximately 24 million people.
Well, stepping out into the open here in Tokyo for the first time, it really showed just how populated things were.

Multi-level walkways, people everywhere; and 4 way street crossings where everyone crosses from all directions all at the same time…

Very kewl, and on my bucket list…

For this leg of the journey my daughter booked us a room in the Godzilla Hotel, complete with a life size Godzilla breaking out of the top of the hotel.

The room is nice with enough space to exist and not step on each other.
For today, we kept it simple, just did some exploring and hit the sack early.
See you tomorrow.
