Dear Mr. President

I went to the Internet last week in search of an address that would allow me to send the President of the United States a package.

The idea was to send him a copy of the book “The Emperor’s New Clothes”, originally written by Hans Christian Anderson.

The story is a classic children’s tale about two weavers who promise an emperor a new suit of clothes that they say is invisible to those who are unfit for their positions, stupid, or incompetent – while in reality, they make no clothes at all, making everyone believe the clothes are invisible to them. When the emperor parades before his subjects in his new “clothes”, no one dares to say that they do not see any suit of clothes on him for fear that they will be seen as stupid. Finally a child cries out, “But he isn’t wearing anything at all!”

It is but a simple and innocent tale that I thought in many ways accurately resembled our Dear President Trump and those who either support him, or silently tolerate him.

This was to be an innocent subtle way of expressing my opinion of his policies, politics and general attitude towards the rest of the world. I considered it a good investment to send an innocent gift to express my political views in a way that would nicely say: please get off your high horse and start actually trying to take care of the people you are supposed to represent.

In the end I found a website where I was allowed to enter in my comments and thoughts about his handling of the present situation. The developers of the website made it sound like it was their way of keeping track of the opinions of the general population of the United States.

As I soon realized that an address was not going to be forthcoming, I decided to write my thoughts down in the space provided. In the end, when I hit submit on my comments I was presented with a dialogue where I could donate money; rather large suggested sums of money I might add, and later received a text message on my cell phone basically telling me that if I wanted my comments to be submitted I would have to agree to receive text messages from the website that I had visited.

Ultimately therefore I cannot be sure if my original comments will ever be seen by anybody that might be able to understand them and use them for some positive purpose. I therefore present them to you here in hopes that they might help make a little bit of a difference in this chaotic and crazed time we are all trying to live through

My Words to President Trump:

Please…

Stop trying to compete with everyone that disagrees with you. Stop trying to be the most important person in the room. And stop telling the rest of the world that disagrees with you that they are stupid, or scum…

In the end, it’s not about you… it’s about the country, and the people, and how well you served them. Consistency, and dedication to the path you have chosen, that is what counts. And choosing the path that may not be best for you, but will be best for the country, that is what’s right.

Please Mr. President: I may not agree with you; I may even think that the country would be better off without you in the White House. But right now, you are all we have as that one single person that the country, and the world looks to, to help choose our own path, to help keep us safe, and to somehow help us to know that it’s all going to be OK…

Please…
