Train Time: No. 7

Today, it’s the 5:05 bound for Homewood.

I hope the American people collectively have a strong stomach.
Because I fear that this election year is going to be a circus at best, and a political nightmare at the worst.

Look at it this way:

  • It looks like we are going to have one candidate who has already been in the white house for all of three terms and part of another; who has been the first lady of Arkansas , the first lady of the United States, and served under Obama for a little more than a term. When she was in office under President Obama, she was surrounded by scandal and problems. When she was first lady she was married to someone who was surrounded by scandal and corruption, and really good cigars. And now, she is running for president and all of that past stuf is OK.

  • And the other potential candidate has never been in politics-at least not officially, and wants to begin his presidency by building a wall around the country, kicking everyone out who is undesirable, and then pretending that the rest of the world doesn’t exist. He wants to run the country like a business, and yet I’ve heard he has bankrupted most of the businesses he ever was involved in. He’s got most of the Republicans so nervous that most of them are willing to “cross the isle” and vote for the other side just to keep him out.

Now that I too am guilty of spewing out regurgitated dribble that I got from one place or another, just like all the other news sources do, the real truth of it all is probably someplace between the above, and the fictional utopia we all whish this country really was.

Needless to say;

I don’t like either of them and I’m worried what will become of this country if either one gets into office.

I figure it will go one of two ways:

  1. Hillary will get elected and it will be politics as usual except, as she would be the first woman president, it would be hard for her to accomplish anything because… after all… “she’s only a woman”. And after 4 – 8 years she’ll have a lot more gray hair and we the people will be able to look out at the results of her work and say: “I don’t see anything different; do you see anything different?
  2. Trump gets elected and 5 minutes after his first globally televised speech, every country who ever did or still does think that the United States is a waste of space and that Americans are selfish self-centered clods will declare all out war on us and like some over the top post-apocalyptic video game, the U.S. is reduced to a big pile of: O.M.G. WHAT WERE WE THINKING.

Either way, I worry that it’s not going to be much fun.
