I have been writing stories for a long time.

Most of the stories I have finished so far were completed quite a few years ago.

Although I never gave up writing, I never quite figured out how to get my writing to pay the bills. As a result writing had to be set aside for other more profitable activities. For many years since, my writing has been restricted to memos and e-mails and instructions for users. I worked for a long time as a computer specialist. As such, in a business environment, I have to write lots of memos and e-mails and instructions for users.

I will also admit to being a little frustrated with my first efforts at getting published. Trying to get published is a very daunting task. Suffice it to say one must get adjusted to constant rejection. However with age, I hope, comes maturity and patience. Although the blank page still scares me to death I have matured enough now to understand that the only way to get beyond that blank page is to fill it with words. And the only way to fill it with words is to write.

I also think that the years of seeing movies and reading books that in so many cases were not really that good, helped me to realize that there were a lot of really mediocre writers getting published and making a name for themselves. This exposure to such poor literature in all the forms that it takes helped me realize, even with the poorest of attitudes, that I certainly couldn’t do any worse.

So I’m using this part of my blog as a kind of a scratchpad; this will be a workspace for me to go through my old manuscripts, clean them up, and expose them to the public. This will also be a forum for me to create new material. And finally, a little bit later I hope to use this part of my blog as a way to get everyone involved in the fun of a multiple creator story: that is, a story that many people contribute to.

I am going to begin this process by selecting, one at a time, each of my older stories and dictating them into the computer and onto my blog in their original format. This version of each story will be presented in its original condition without any reader input and without me change it.

I will then begin a process for each story where I will review the story and make changes as I see fit. It is during this stage that I will look to my readers to provide their thoughts and insights into the process.

When I am finished I will have two versions of each story; the original version as it was written many years ago, and the new version as it was edited and cleaned up and polished.

I suppose it is also possible that I will dictate the original story and find it acceptable in its original format.

And who knows… Maybe you too, may contribute a verse.

… Will see.

Please keep in mind:

The following stories are “under construction”. Once completely added, they will be noted as such.

Thanks for your patience…

Daddy’s Heart…

This is one of my favorites.
My oldest daughter, now with children of her own, sat next to me in the car in the parking lot of a Pizza Hut, and said these words that really started the whole thing.
“Daddy!” She spoke.
“I know whose name is written on your heart, and it’s not mine!”
Right then and there, I came up with and told her this story. It was my first with many more to follow.

Enjoy!

Merry Christmas Harriet (Original)

This was more of a story about me, really; except told through another person’s life. A journey of self-discovery and self-understanding. In the end, I couldn’t finish her story, until I figured out my own.

Enjoy!
